Lluís Dalmau, a novelist in a creative crisis, is confined to an island for his ideas contrary to a dictatorial regime. Lluís Dalmau, a novelist in a creative crisis, is confined to an island for his ideas contrary to a dictatorial regime. The initial desolation will soon change for the contact with people willing to preserve the small plot of freedom they have built. Dalmau will be integrated into a story where a debt from the past is about to stir up some dark facts that seemed buried. The mysterious character, owner of most of the island, kept anonymous and known as the "Dutchman", has the key to saving a territory and some lives, but no one knows who he is. With The Dutchman's Island, Ferran Torrent has built a moving story, full of humor and intrigue about what is really important to people. Faced with an increasingly dehumanized and materialistic world, the characters in this novel claim the right to defend by all means a lifestyle tailored to their needs.
