At Julia's bar, a group of "losers" gather, earning a living by selling sandwiches near soccer fields, doing odd jobs, or peddling anything they can to survive. One of them, Juan, runs multi-bet lottery games and every week wins and "wins" large sums of money, but it's no use because he doesn't gamble, as he would need almost a million and a half pesetas to do so. One of them, Paco, comes up with the idea that the only solution to end their precarious situation would be to play one of these lotteries, and he proposes this to his "friends." Once convinced, they spare no effort to get the money. They'll sell or pawn what little they have, borrow, and even steal. They'll risk everything on this lottery; Their lives, their dreams, the possibility of achieving happiness, and in the end everything will depend on a difficult-to-predict result: Barcelona-Villarreal, the league leader against the bottom club, David against Goliath.
