Moreno Borja is of Gypsy descent. Before embarking on an acting career, he worked for twenty years in private security, rising through the ranks from a simple security guard in a supermarket chain to national coordinator.
His career in the film world began in 2017, when a friend told him about a casting call for Gypsy men aged 40 to 50. He took a chance and was chosen for a role in the film Carmen y Lola (2018), directed by Arantxa Echevarría. His portrayal of a father struggling to accept his daughter's sexual orientation earned him a nomination for the 2019 Goya Award for Most Promising Actor.
Moreno Borja has appeared in several notable works, including film roles in El verano que vivimos (2020) and Dos años y un día (2022), and television roles in the series La novia gitana (2022) and Arde Madrid (2020). He has a prominent role as the gypsy Melquíades in the Netflix series One Hundred Years of Solitude (Cien años de soledad) in 2024 and 2025.
